About two months back I received an inquiry from Nura about photographing a Tulbeh for a her & her fiancé’s families. The Tulbeh is a traditional Palestinian ceremony where the groom’s family formally asks the brides family for her hand in marriage.
Pictured below is a photo from this ceremony. Nura’s brother [in the red tie] surrounded by family of the bride & groom receives a proposal from Ty's, Nura’s fiancé, father. He pledged to take care of the bride & welcome her into his family as one of their own if her parents would agree to the marriage.
Then, Nura’s brother responded with another speech ending the proposal. Followed by the exchanging of rings, sweet treats, dinner with family, drinking & dancing with friends. Events like Nura & Ty's Tulbeh are always a fun way to meet new friends & capture special moments for them!
